Farewell
This commemorative piece is truly the emergence of conceptual art and at the same time the uniting of two individuals permanently in one physical space. With the help of Emmanuel Hoachlander of Section 9 Tapes, through a technique developed in the 1950 when music was recorded onto a cheap and readily available means of x-ray film, I utilized that concept of permanence by converting a spoken farewell recording of a mother saying good bye to her children and husband. Her lasting words are immortalized, and archived and also playable on an x-ray record of her husband.

Doctor
I often collaborate with a fellow artist. After having visited a cherished relic site of St. Anthony Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA, I was fascinated by the collector “priest-physician,” Reverend Dr. Suitbert Godfrey Mollinger. As part of an extensive project with fellow artist Gregory M. Yates, we collaborated on images of Dr. Mollinger. We hope to donate the proceeds of these portraits to the restoration and preservation of the church that houses one of the largest collections of relics in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA.

Dirt Woman
A client had approached me about creating an art piece for a fundraiser auction at Side by Side. The subject was a prominent historical figure in the city of Richmond VA. The piece was a re-creation of color and underlying tones of gold leaf from a photograph taken by Times-Dispatch in 1988, of the legendary drag queen Donnie “Dirt Woman” Corker.

Scrum with a Crow
I was awoken one early morning to the sound of a dozen crows squawking, and when I looked out the window a hawk was bantering with the murder. Later that day I saw the actual site of the earlier scrum and transferred this photographic image to canvas.

Looking sky
This acrylic transfer was from a photograph taken on a ski trip. In looking to produce a large piece this photograph montage pushed me to expand within a larger format and connecting theme.
